Please Allow me to Introduce Myself, My Name is…

Writer. Artist. Poet. Wellness Enthusiast. Always Creative

Rodnisha, however my name doesn’t seem to be as important as the reason I am here. I’m here to create and heal, giving myself and others a space to exist freely as we navigate the often chaotic intricacies of life. This space acts as shelter for those in need of a rejuvenating creative space existing outside of idealized limitations to cultivate growth through wellness on all levels of mind, body, and spirit.

As an artist and healer, I often time found my passions at odds with one another. For so long I went through life seeing my art and my desire to become a healthcare practitioner to be mutually exclusive events, paths I would one day have to choose between. Never sure how to combine my love of artistic expression with my passion for wellness, I began to seek out a way to bridge the gap between the seemingly different worlds that I existed in simultaneously.

As I continued in search for answers I realized that the beauty in art and creativity is that it exist in everything around us. Found in even the most mundane task, creativity is the way in which we innovate new ideas and forge new paths to continued development. In opening my eyes to this realization, I began to understand that even behind the seemingly unrelated happenings of health and wellness, creativity thrives.

It is in this spirit that Black. Girl. Writes was formed. I see this as my attempt at bridging the worlds between creativity and wellness, using artistic and creative expression to aid in our daily healing. I hope the contents of these pages are just as healing for all who grace them as they are for me.

Thank you for your presence and continued support. I look forward to enjoying this journey with you.
